A fossil-fueled power plant converts the chemical energy of fuel to thermal energy to produce steam in a boiler and then mechanical energy rotating the steam turbine. The investigation included modernization or repair of marine structures, fire protection, electrical systems, oil spill prevention, and communication systems, along with review of technical data for a leak detection system.
